19th hole saves golfers from wind storm

Fortunately for the players, the terrific freak wind storm swept over the golf course soon after the last players had entered the club house.

Thirty-seven golfers braved the hot and windy conditions on Saturday to compete for the October Monthly Mug at Dundee Country Club.

Walter Du Plessis played a very solid round of golf to win the A Division on a 67 net with Humphrey Browning taking the B Division on an excellent net 66.
The Ladies B Division was won by Lorien De Wit with a net 69 and Dolly Bradbury winning the C Division mug on a net 76.
The prize for best gross score of the day went to Walter Du Plessis who shot a one over par 72.

There were three two clubs carded and the following players all shared a spoil of the prize money: B Francis NO. 4, W Maritz No.12 and A Mbatha No.12.
As mentioned in last week’s report, the Friday afternoon Meat Competition has started to gain momentum again with summer almost upon us and this past Friday saw 16 players taking part with Dani Von Mollendorf winning on 28 points followed by Debbie Catlett on 26 points.
Players are reminded of the Wednesday afternoon nine Hole Chicken Run competition and on Saturday the club Competition will be betterball multiplication format.
Saturday also sees the Springboks up against Wales in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals at 5pm, so put on your green and gold and get down to the club to support our boys.
