After weeks of anticipation, following a washed out race meeting at the Newcastle Oval Raceway in July, petrolheads got their fix from the sidelines.

Rain delays played no part in the action on Saturday.

After weeks of anticipation, following a washed out race meeting at the Newcastle Oval Raceway in July, petrolheads got their fix from the sidelines.

Once the dust had settled, the results were as follows:

Cathleen de Jager was again the fastest female around the track, followed by Zaakira Khan and Sameera Ameer also on the podium.

The top rookies were Tiaan Buys and Stephan van der Merwe respectively.

Oval Track stalwart, Boet Buys took home the trophy in the tin tops division, with JP Bruin and Flip Gericke in hot pursuit.

The 1660s class was taken control of by Imraan Ameer.

Continuing his impeccable form, young Tiaan Buys finished second with Shaukat Khan in third place overall.

Ali Jamaloodeen was the best of the 1600 contenders.

Also putting on a showcase performance, Shaukat Khan took silver position in the same division, fending off Dhula Jamaloodeen.

Dominating in the two litres was Norman Forbes, ahead of Gideon Hand and Hendrik vd Merwe.

Hendrik also took pole position in the hot rods division, maintaining a narrow lead against Hendrik Labuschagne and Gideon Hand.

The go-karts were hugely popular with local fans.

Another racing prodigy rising through the ranks, Ruaan Labuschagne was numero uno, with Tiaan Buys and John van Rooyen close behind.

Finally, Ronnie Greyling took top honours in the V8 flexis, ahead of Stoffel van Rooyen.
