Vryheid Luremasters – Fish for the future

The club urges all members and the public to please release all bass caught, alive and unharmed, during spawning months. Release of fish is essential because the bigger fish are considered to be breeding stock. Fish stocks are under threat due to the drought.

ON July 25, the Vryheid Luremasters held their Annual General Meeting for the 2015/2016 season at the residence of Miles and Amelia Wood.

The meeting was followed by the prizegiving and a social braai. The club would like to thank Miles and Amelia for opening their home as well as the delicious food. The Luremasters would like to congratulate the prize winners and hope that the members are encouraged to achieve their goals in the forthcoming season.

The newly elected committee is as follows:

  • Chairman, Louwtjie Joubert;
  • Vice Chairman, Brent Bevan;
  • Treasurer, Paul Steffensen;
  • Secretary, AJ Mohunram;
  • Weigh Master, Christo Van Rhede Van Oudtshoorn;
  • Media Officer, Robbie Price and
  • Additional members, Henk Fourie and Tinus Cilliers.

At the meeting, it was decided that two leagues a month will be held during the prime months of August, September and October. Thereafter, one league a month will be held for the remainder of the season. The June and July leagues will not be held due to poor attendance.

The first league was held on Saturday, August 8 at Graham Ford’s Dam. The first September league is provisionally set for Saturday, September 12 at Bloodriver, depending on water levels. The remainder of the leagues will be decided at the monthly meetings and the members will be informed accordingly. All members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings, which are usually followed by a bring and braai.

A friendly reminder to all members to please pay their membership fees to Paul Steffensen at Vital Signs. All members of the public that wish to join the club can also contact Paul.
