The course involved a total climb of over 4 000m during the race and proved to be a challenging test of physical and mental endurance

Old Trevertonian, Stewart Chaperon, competed in the Ultra Trail Mount Moodie incorporating the 2015 SA Ultra Trail Championships on January 31.  The 87km trail running event took place in the mountains around Sabie, Mpumalanga.
The course involved a total climb of over 4 000m during the race and proved to be a challenging test of physical and mental endurance.
Stewart completed the race in 12 hours 50 minutes, placing him 10th overall in the field and seventh in the open men’s category.
Another well-seasoned trail runner from Mooi River, Justin Short, finished one place ahead of Stewart.  The next challenges on the horizon are the Three Cranes Stage Trail Run in the Karkloof and Two Oceans Trail Run and Ultra Marathon in April.
