Action-packed karate camp to end the year

Those who excelled during the year were acknowledged during the year-end function and prize-giving held in Newcastle

Last year ended with an adventure-packed karate camp where, as always, the Saturday morning started off with a brisk and challenging run, followed by a hearty breakfast. Each and every individual had the same opportunities and chances to participate in all the activities, which included go-cart racing, crossbow shooting, windpipe blowing, cross-fit challenges and most certainly ‘kleilat’.

This was extended to include parents who felt up to the challenge. A much-anticipated ‘ice bucket challenge’ was held to end off the day’s physical activities. Every karateka had an opportunity to nominate and be nominated in this challenge. The Ladysmith JKA club once again excelled at national level. Competition was tough and with over 3500 entries in the tournament, the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Team successfully managed to achieve 90 medals: 21 gold, 22 silver and 47 bronze.

Those who excelled during the year were acknowledged during the year-end function and prize-giving held in Newcastle.
