Newcastle Legends thrash COR 6-2 in RBCA League encounter

The RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League continued this past Sunday with unbeaten Zim Stars taking on Fairleigh United.

Both teams played excellent football but after 30 minutes, Zim Stars took the lead through Judmark.

In the second half, Fairleigh United earned a penalty which Bhoka converted.

The game hung on a thread with both teams squandering chances.

However, Zim Stars prevailed by scoring the winner after Fairleigh United failed to clear their lines.

In the other game, Spartans went up against the Hammers and it was the Spartans that drew first blood.

The Hammers responded by continuing to attack and scored to draw level before the break.

In the second half, the Hammers took the lead through Jafar.

The Spartans continued to fight and got a second goal through Garryn. But the Hammers were not done yet and Khalid scored their third to give his team a 3-2 victory.

Next up was The City of Refuge who hosted the Newcastle Legends in what seemed to be a ‘battle of rivals.’

COR’s game plan was to hit Legends on the counter; however, Legends scored two goals in quick succession through Ismael and Noorudin Banda.

Legends went into the break with two goals to the good.

In the second half, COR got a goal back through Christopher Samuel from the penalty spot, and five minutes later, Louw got the second goal to tie the score.

This put COR on a high, and while still in celebration mode and not focusing on the game, the Legends took advantage and Shabir got a goal.

From then on, the Newcastle Legends continued to score almost at will to thrash City of Refuge 6-2 and give them a football lesson to remember.

The City of Refuge is still without a point in the RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League.

Hellenic and Munawarah played the final game with the latter also enjoying an overwhelming 6-2 win over Hellenic.
