Dannhauser anglers reel in a title double

Both Breakwaters AC and Dannhauser AC will again be locked in battle for the Grand Challenge on April 14 at Richgate Park.

A week ago, Dannhauser Angling Club captured the Mohamed Midas League title.

With both Dannhauser Angling Club and Breakwaters Angling Club bent on capturing the AA Coaches Knock Out title, both teams were fully represented on the day.

Dannhauser AC opted to draw for the battleground, and Zones 3 and 4 were chosen.

Anglers eagerly awaited the cast-off time and dashed to their favourite spots. Sporadic catches were reported but the moment of truth was at the weigh-in.

The number of keepnets was almost equal, but some of the anglers at Dannhauser AC had some sizeable fish in their keepnets – some well over the 3kg mark and it was Dannhauser Angling Club that emerged victorious with 87 points, while Breakwaters AC accumulated 57 points, surrendering the title of AA Coaches Knock Out Champions to Dannhauser AC -another first-time title under the auspices of the APL.

President of APL, Matthew Shunmugam, commended Dannhauser AC for the progressive improvement during the season, and he said that credit should be given to the late Liaquat Ahmed, who had embarked on a process to rebuild the club, and now those efforts are yielding the desired outcomes.

Ashvir Singh, the captain of Breakwaters AC, congratulated Dannhauser AC on their achievement.

Both Breakwaters AC and Dannhauser AC will again be locked in battle for the Grand Challenge on April 14 at Richgate Park. Dannhauser AC will be chasing the trophy for the first time in the history of the club.

The Angler of the Day was Tashriq Narotham of Dannhauser AC with an impressive haul of 17 points, winning the orange cap, an outright trophy, and R200.
