Zinhle set to compete in world champs

She has done exceptionally well to qualify and it will be her first time running in India

Local athlete Zinhle Shabalala will be competing in the 50km World Championships, set to take place on November 5 in Hyderabad, India.

Zinhle is a well-known ultra-marathon runner who is a member of Hollywood Athletic Club.

She has won many different races in the past, including the Harry Gwala 42km and the Wasbank 42km.

She also took part in the Nedbank Runified 50km in March this year, coming seventh overall and second as a South African. She took third place in the Mangosuthu Marathon (50km).

Zinhle says she is very grateful for the opportunity and is hopeful that she will do well in the world champs.

“I’m not familiar with the environment, since this is my first time running in India. But I believe in the preparations with my coach and I am more than ready for the race,” said an optimistic Zinhle.
