4×4 challenge puts the most experienced drivers to the test

Drivers complimented co-ordinator Frans de Jager and his team for putting the event together.

Drivers of 4×4 vehicles and their crews put their handling skills to the test at the Grondvlak 4×4 Challenge held at Corby Rock Farm on the Nquthu road last weekend.
There were 20 competitors, from around the area and beyond, who entered and had to negotiate eight obstacles on a tough route that saw some vehicles getting bogged down in some of the muddier areas.
Fortunately, a trusty farm tractor was on hand to pull their vehicles out of their sticky situations.
All the drivers agreed that the day, held in warm conditions, was a lot of fun and are already gearing up for the 2024 Grondvlak 4×4 Challenge. Everyone was highly complimentary of co-ordinator Frans de Jager and his team for putting the event together.

Grondvlak is a non-profit organisation that contributes to farm security and the conservation of the country’s heritage.
This event was used to raise funds for security camera expenses in the De Jagersdrift area.

Ricky du Toit took top honours by claiming first place.
He was pleased to win a week’s vacation in Margate for his off-road efforts.
Local driver Hannes Vreken came second to take home an air compressor.
Hannes was followed by Johan van Niekerk, who was presented with a hamper.
