Popular NFWAA Angling League gets off to a smooth start

Rehaz Khan of Ladysmith and Zaakir Pingri of Endumeni emerged as respective winners of the non-scaled and scaled categories

The NFWAA league competition got underway at Richgate Park with Atlas Towlines as the new sponsor for the 2022–2023 season.

Ardent Chelmsford angler and owner of Atlas Towlines, Clive Pillay, did not hesitate to take the mantle from the previous sponsor.
Cash and prizes to the value of R4000 will be handed out at each of the six league outings.

Rehaz Khan of Ladysmith and Zaakir Pingri of Endumeni emerged as respective winners of the non-scaled and scaled categories during the first league outing of the season, which took place at Richgate Park.

Angler of the Day, Joey Samuels, beat all and sundry by accumulating 10 points on what proved to be a difficult day for most.

Joey thus occupies the early lead in the angler of the year competition, which will undoubtedly be hotly contested until the last league competition.

Ladysmith have an early lead in the team competition with a total of 37 points, followed by Chelmsford on 26 and Itec Freespool a further point behind.

Fourth place went to Docrats on 21 points, followed by Endumeni 13, Ace Aqua 9, and Riverside 6.

The second round of the NFWAA Atlas Towlines League will be held at the same venue due to the poor conditions of the facilities and infrastructure at Sanford Islands.

The KZN liaison committee is, however, addressing some of these issues with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in an attempt to improve conditions for anglers and visitors to the resort.
