Howling winds did not deter bowlers participating in the Northern Zone veteran fours last Saturday.
A small entry of only three ladies and four men’s teams took to the greens to determine the 2023 winners.
The ladies title went to Joan Schoon, Dorothy Crosbie, Nancy Steyn, and Heather Hitchen, who were unbeaten, winning one game and drawing the other.
Michelle Steele, Sue Hutchinson, Esther Willemse, and Edith Pretorius were the runners-up with one win and one loss.
The men’s section was decided in the last game between two unbeaten teams.
In a ding-dong battle, Sid Price, Koen Pretorius, Fritz Botha, and Monty Steele edged out John and Trevor Douthwaite, Shane Noble, and James Dlamini by one shot to retain the title they won last year.
