Zim Stars dominate Munawarah FC

The RBCA Chartered Accountants Super League continued with Park United taking on Spartans on Sunday.

The Spartans took to the field with a few players injured and coach, Smoody Wood, had to make do with the players that were available.

Park United ran rampant, and midway through the first half, took the lead. United continued to dominate the young Spartans and, just before the break, doubled their lead.

Coach Wooed used half time to give his lads a good tongue lashing, and the Spartans took to the field with a different attitude. Shane Van Der Plank found Malik on the right flank, who’s shot into the net to halve the deficit.

Pro Abdool then found Miguel, who dribbled past three defenders and the goalkeeper to grab the equalizer.

In the next game, Newcastle Legends took on Fairfield United, with Legends also having six of the first team players out.

Premie Singh watched in disbelief as his charges squandered opportunity after opportunity. At the break, Singh introduced Akesh Dawlall and Bilal Ali upfront and there was a huge shift in the game.

It did not take long for Akesh Dawlall to set up Bilal Ali to score the only goal of the game.

Singh commented that the score should have been 3 plus in favour of the Legends but admitted they just have to work harder at training.

In the final encounter, Zim Stars took on Munnawwarah. There is a strong rivalry between these two teams. Munnawwarah played a fast-paced game, but the Zim Stars were well prepared to handle their rivals.

Zim Stars got a goal from a quick counter when David Haderea played a defence-splitting pass to find Willy Roy, whose left-footed shot found the top corner.

Stars grew in confidence and began to dictate the pace. Just before the final whistle, Zim Stars got the winner.

Zim Stars’ Pro Elson praised his team for their valiant effort and working their socks off to get a win.
