Zaakira Khan embodies the term ‘woman empowerment’

When one thinks of ‘women empowerment', the name Zaakira Khan immediately comes to mind, as she paves her way to victory one championship at a time in a relatively male-dominated sport.

Zaakira has become a fan favourite at the Newcastle Oval Track as she continues to prove why she belongs on the dirt track alongside the best of the best.

Although she had always had a ‘need for speed,” Zaakira only officially started competing in races in 2015.

“My husband had been in oval track racing for years, so with my passion for cars, I could not wait to get into it too,” she said.

She says what interested her most about the sport was that it was not just an ordinary straight road that ‘just requires a fast car. “Instead, this type of racing requires experience and determination, which overall makes one a better driver.

“It comes with many challenges, and I absolutely love it, and mostly I love that I get to enjoy it with my husband, who is ultimately my biggest supporter. I also have the most amazing racing colleagues who always have my back on and off the track, and it’s those friendships that I am forever grateful for.”
