Petrol head Eugene is enjoying his speedy oval track ride

Eugene describes himself as someone who from a young age has always had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles.

Petrol head Eugene Reynecke (33) has only one mission in mind, and that is to be the best of the best as he dominates the Newcastle oval track one race at a time.

Eugene was born on June 6, 1993, in Ladysmith where he spent his entire childhood as the youngest of three brothers.

He would later go on to matriculate from Ladysmith High School before starting his very own mechanical, key coding, engine control unit (ecu) repair and vehicle performance software upgrade company.

He is engaged to his long-time fiancé, Luanè Labuschagne, and together they have two beautiful children.

Eugene describes himself as someone who from a young age has always had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles. He also previously participated in SBK Superbike racing prior to joining the Newcastle Oval track team three years ago.

“What I love most about oval track racing is that it is something I can share and enjoy with my entire family. My six-year-old son shares this passion with me and recently started participating in the kids division,” he beamed.

The constant thrill and competitiveness of a single race is what he said kept his interest peaked in the sport.

“The main goal of oval track racing is to have fun, go fast, and just simply enjoy the thrill of it all.”

Since joining the sport, Eugene has achieved many accolades; however, his proudest achievement has been dominating his class in the 2022 Regionals Competition.

However, moving forward, he hopes to one day win the South African Racing Tournament.

He also admitted that a lot of time and hard work go into building and maintaining a decent oval-track car.

“It’s a never-ending story; there is always work to do on your car, especially after every race is done,” he said.

His advice to other aspiring racers is to simply go for it and have fun with it.

“It isn’t all about winning. Enjoy the ride, enjoy yourself, and eventually the results will speak for themselves,” he concluded.
