49 golfers support Sakekamer and Winter Festival golf day

Watering holes well-stocked with snacks and beverages ensured that the 49 golfers were able to contend with the sweltering heat.

Kilbarchan Golf Club played host to the annual Newcastle Sakekamer and Winter Festival golf day on Saturday, April 1.

The Newcastle Winter Festival is the biggest festival in Northern KwaZulu-Natal and supports more than 30 local charities and schools with donations and feeding projects. This year’s Festival is scheduled to take place from April 26 to 29.

Watering holes well-stocked with snacks and beverages ensured that the 49 golfers who supported the golf day were able to contend with the sweltering heat.

The competition followed the IPS format and the results were as follows:

M Pretorius came first with 43 points, second was J Schreuder with 40 points, and G Booysen was third with 40 points, while J Esterhuizen, M Mostert and J Tinkler all scored 39 points for joint fourth place.

The title for Longest Drive on hole 9 went to Pierre Booysen. Nearest to the Pin on hole 14 was won by G Marais and winners of the Putting competition were Chris Khanyile and E van der Merwe.
