Team Ladysmith worked hard and earned a total of 25 points, putting them in first place.

The start of the season for the Northern-Natal Fresh Water Angling Associations is a much-anticipated event for anglers who belong to clubs affiliated with this long-standing and well-respected organisation.

The newly formed Ace Aqua Anglers recently joined the association, bringing the total number of affiliated clubs to seven.

The first round of the NFWAA Devland Impuphu league was held at Chelmsford Resorts’ Richgate Park, and as is customary at the start of every season, all clubs were well represented with members eager to get the season underway.

The fish, on the other hand, did not cooperate, resulting in poor catches for the majority of the anglers.

Nikil Pooni of Chelmsford Angling Club garnered the most points (nine).

Kameshen Govender of Ladysmith Angling Club won the scaled fish category with a carp weighing 3.080kg while Amir Pooni won the non-scaled category with a barbel weighing 2.3kg.

Both anglers received a trophy and a R200 Devland Impuphu voucher.

Team Ladysmith worked hard and earned a total of 25 points, putting them in first place.

Chelmsford finished second with 19 points, followed by Docrats and Itec Freespool with 10 and 9 points, respectively.

Ace Aqua Anglers finished fifth, ahead of Riverside and Endumeni, who tied for sixth place.
