Saturday’s blistering heat did not deter golfers from taking to the greens over the weekend.

The Rapportryers Beweging sponsored golf day, hosted at the Newcastle Golf Club on Saturday, October 8, was well attended.

The competition followed the better ball format in which two golfers play as a team, but each playing his or her own ball throughout.

On each hole, the two golfers in a team compared scores and the ‘better ball’ counted as the team’s score.

At the end of the day, club manager, Elred Darvall, and his wife, Jenny, were on top of the scoreboard with 47 points.

Peet and Walt Visitor came second with 45 points, while Ran Swanepoel and Gerry Joubert came third, also with 45 points.

In fourth place were Gerry Combrink and Thinus du Pesani with 44 points. Jack and Tracy Lee came fifth, also with 44 points.

This Saturday, October 15, golfers will compete for some amazing prizes, including an opportunity to take home a Nissan NP200, an Isuzu D-Max 1.9 or R100 000 in cash on the NTT Motor Group Sponsored Competition.
