THE committee of the VAC want to thank everybody involved with the great success of the Vryheid Meatmasters Game Park Race last Saturday.
The race started and ended in the Vryheid High School sports field going via the Vryheid game reserve. The participant’s remarks were full of compliments for the route and organising of the event.
Die opkoms vir die resies was baie goed ondersteun met oud en jong tot so oud soos 70 jaar in die hardloop en ons jonges het baie om te leer van die veterane. Jammer om van die fietsryer te hoor wat nie kon klaarmaak as gevolg van meganiese probleme nie.
The sport event offered a run/walk and cycle items of 17.5 and 9km for the runners and the cycles had to do a very beautiful, but tough, race in the game park of 30 or 60km.
We are very proud to say that the winners for the cycling and VAC were represented by the Vryheiders. Ernest Franzsen, well done with a great race on the 30km cycle and your gold.
The winner for the ladies on the 60km was Sandra Haywood with a time of 2:57. Sandra you did us proud with this time as the race was difficult and we know that they had to climb 1 200m to the top.
The winners for the men on the 60km were riders from Dundee. Come on, Vryheid. Where were our strong riders?
Paul, well done with your second place. We know you worked very hard with this very steep race.
