I have to concur with readers about the disgusting illegal dumping that is going on in Estcourt.
Illegal dumping has become like a scourge in our town. Everywhere you look, there is filth and rubbish.
It really seems like people don’t take pride in the town anymore.
I have noticed that it is not just domestic rubbish that is illegally dumped; it seems that some businesses are also incorrectly disposing of their waste.

I think there should be close monitoring of illegal dumping and there should be a penalty for those who do not comply. There are many people in our town who take pride in their surroundings, but it seems we are fighting a losing battle against the people who don’t care.
Many times, I have had to clean up the area in front of my shop because of the volumes of litter thrown on the pavement and into the gutters. If left neglected, this causes more problems, with blocked drains as well.
I would like to make a plea to the municipality to keep a close eye on the areas that are ‘hot-spots’ for illegal dumping and take swift action against the culprits. Then name and shame them in the Estcourt News; this should prove an effective deterrent.
