ESTCOURT: Our town is on a steady decline

We can only hope and pray that our council will have the heart to look around them and see how this town is being destroyed

Editor –

I have lived in this town for more than 55 years and I have to say it has never looked this terrible in all those years.

The state of this once beautiful ‘Queen of the Midlands’ is deplorable, to say the least.

The seemingly don’t care attitude from the local council has meant that even basic service delivery is often neglected.

Water and sanitation services, road repair and painting, verge trimming, refuse removal, public buildings and recreational areas…the list can go on…are declining steadily, right before our eyes.

Some of our town’s citizens, it seems, have also lost their sense of pride in the town while others simply could not care less.

It’s quite depressing to see Estcourt fall more into gloom and doom and even when the citizens try to inject some hope, it seems that they not well-supported or their projects are short lived.
We can only hope and pray that our council will have the heart to look around them and see how this town is being destroyed.

Maybe they should take the time to listen to us and take action to resolve the concerns of the ratepayers in this town.
