Overcrowding in town must be controlled

If just one person was infected, we could have a nightmare on our hands

Editor –

I was very uneasy to see the volumes of people in town last week. While I understand that it was time for grant payment and people were out and about to do their month-end shopping, what struck me was the disregard most people showed for social distancing and wearing of face masks.

The queues to the shops and grant collection points were teeming with people who were standing within inches of each other, conversing without face masks.

I think that more enforcement needs to be done, not only by law enforcement officers but by store staff as well.
While I acknowledge that it is an individual’s decision, I think that if people are reminded of and forced to comply with the rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19, they might practice them.

The situation in town last week was out of control. If just one person was infected, we could have a nightmare on our hands. The overcrowding in town must be controlled.

For the sake of our community, I am begging people to please adhere to the laws and regulations that govern us during this time. It is for your own benefit.
