Surround yourself with love and you will never go wrong

"Share a smile with a colleague, pamper your office and make it a reflection of who you are."

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

This cliche is a far-fetched dream for many, but in all honesty it is true. Most people wake up in the morning to join the ‘rat race’ and make ends meet for themselves and their families, and you are lucky enough if you have a job to go to.

With our country’s economy, one is not always able to find a job they love. We take whatever comes our way and with that, most people have a love-hate relationship with their jobs. Do what you need to do to get that salary – this statement is now a norm and quite frankly, beggars can’t be choosers.

Jobs come in all shapes and sizes; some come wearing overalls and gloves, or with a spinning chair and air conditioner. If being a couch potato could earn you a salary at the end of the month, how many couch potatoes would this world have? No one likes waking up early in the morning to do anything, let alone go to work, but we do what we must because there are no salaries for slouching around the house all day.

Regardless, we need to ‘stay woke’ as the modern generation would say. Develop a love for your job, even if it comes with office politics, office gossips and challenges, and if you work as a team where needed, the job becomes a walk in the park. Let each day at work be your Valentine’s Day.

What I mean is – show appreciation for your job, share a smile with a colleague, pamper your office and make it a reflection of who you are. Have you thought about sharing the little you have with your colleagues, even if it’s just a sarmie or a chocolate? It doesn’t have to be much. Even a smile should do to brighten up someone’s day. You could even show how noble you are by teaching someone a skill you are good at.

Love is also not only about affection; it is also about forgiving those who have wronged us, so if someone has spread rumours about you at your workplace, forgive them and move on. Love is about giving second and third chances, even if you feel the other person doesn’t deserve it.

Spread love wherever you can and wherever you go. You might just save someone who is suffering from being a narcissist. What is love, if not shared with others?
