A royal struggle for many

"This saga comes on top of another blow for the local economy, following the closure of the abattoir..."

Sir – Many thanks for the article on the struggles of the Royal Country Inn staff. This needed exposing – I am glad someone has.

It appears as if this story goes very deep as this saga has touched many lives in a bad way. Government workers go on strike for the slightest thing, but here are hard-working, loyal staff who have been treated like rubbish and have not been paid.

It is disgusting. The Courier and Estella Naicker must be congratulated for standing up like this.

This saga comes on top of another blow for the local economy, following the closure of the abattoir and the loss of some 90 jobs there. This is bad news. The economy is creaking, yet people at the municipality can waste money. Amazing place this.

I would like to see a march by ordinary, honest citizens, who have just had enough of corruption. We need to get this economy moving but with so much corruption here, it appears as if labour cannot help; what chance is there?
