‘Clean up the filth before calling in tourists’

Tourism is vital, but is the municipality on board?

Sir
Many thanks for publishing the good news about the wonderful battlefields attractions in our area, with voices from England and Dundee expressing their admiration for the battlefields and how these bring people here who, of course, spend money.
Dundee needs every cent it can get.
With job losses excessive in the first months of 2020, and many big businesses retrenching and employees at many businesses not being paid at places where they have worked for years, the economy and many people are struggling.
Tourism is vital, but is the municipality on board? There is an unbelievable amount of littering that one sees in the central business district over weekends, especially this weekend.
Trash was lying in piles down the intersection of Victoria and Smith Streets, and Willson Street near Shoprite was just strewn with discarded waste. Tourists use this route to visit Talana etc. and go to Isandlwana – what impression will they have?
Come to Dundee and see the filth?
