“They” say that pain is an inevitable part of life. I believe this to be true.  Painful things; like relationships ending, death and illness, job loss, parenting struggles and more; will happen to everyone, regardless of age, location, finances or beliefs.

The difference is that some will experience the pain, which will allow them to learn and grow from it. Others will just have the pain, which means they will suffer.

So many people try to “get over” the pain using numbing tools like over-eating, over-drinking, over-shopping, over-working and even over-thinking.

Others try to “get out from under” it by escaping, using things like the busyness of life, going undercover to ignore the situation, or plain good old fashioned denial… “I’m fine.”

And some will try to “get around” the pain by going round and round in unhealthy relationships, work situations or lifestyle choices.

These will all only provide temporary relief.  The way to be free of pain is to go through it.  With compassion for yourself, a willingness to learn and understand, with acceptance for it being what it is, and the ability to tune in and hear the message within the pain.

Only when pain is felt, heard, seen and believed can it be released.  I know it isn’t easy, but it’s so very valuable.  You don’t have to do it alone.  We are here to help you.
