Still waiting for answers since 2018

It was a promise to investigate the reason why the fire department never went to Weenen, where a python was seen

Editor –
Firstly, I want to thank your newspaper for being the voice of the voiceless.

I even wish that, after publishing some of the thorny news articles, they be shared with national newspapers to possibly make higher officials aware of the conditions most people still live under.

SEE THIS: Disgraceful fire service from municipality

I doubt if there will be any response with regards to the letter recently written about incompetence of the Estcourt Fire Services. In your newspaper dated March 16, 2018, page 3, you published what I assume was said by the municipality.

It was a promise to investigate the reason why the fire department never went to Weenen, where a python was seen trying to gain entry to a house.  It was reported at the time that vehicles had no diesel.

If my memory serves me well, a letter seeking clarity from the people living in that house was sent to the municipal manager (signed for) and copied to the supervisor at the fire station, who received it himself and also signed as proof of receiving it.

Today marks a year and seven months without any response.

It is, for this reason, I so wish that complaints and letters sent to your newspaper be shared with other media – be it other newspapers, radio stations or television – so that it is recorded how people are still treated in some areas after almost three decades of democracy in this country.
