Councillor demands for improved firefighting service

Let us protect our people and put them first. Life is not about gambling

I was heartbroken to see the crash where the car burnt and one of the Wembezi houses was also burnt.
I am Councillor Musa Nkala in this municipality and I am unhappy with our municipality, which fails to protect Estcourt residents (who are the ratepayers) with enough fire trucks to prevent disasters.

As public representatives, we call on the municipal manager to account for this matter. We voted to save the community; our commitment is to protect the rights of our people. We demand that the municipality buy firefighting trucks to prevent further disaster. We need to have two or three fire trucks.

We believe this is not a financial crisis. My point is that the municipality receives rates from the ratepayers.
What is this money doing for the safety of our community?

Let us protect our people and put them first. Life is not about gambling; we are talking about people who pay rates.

We lost a big factory, Clover, because the municipality failed to have water backup; this caused hundreds of job losses.
