Estcourt is a ‘sinking ship’

Which company will want to invest in a town where the basics cannot be done properly?

Editor –
I am prompted to pen this as I read the articles and letters in your newspaper and previous articles in the Natal Mercury.

How on God’s earth can the municipal manager (MM) claim that the fire season is over so it’s fine if there are no fire engines, etc? From which planet are you, Mr MM?

This has to be the quote of the year and puts you in top spot as MAMPARA OF THE YEAR! Do you even care about this town?

Which company will want to invest in a town where the basics cannot be done properly? Waste management is non-existent… what about the fire at the landfill site the other weekend?

The streets are filthy… gutters are cleared, yes, and the filth just left on the pavement. Since the first heavy rain, those gutters are clogged. What about physically inspecting them and getting them cleared ASAP? You are failing this once-beautiful town and it is time that ratepayers stood up. We have been too quiet for too long, far too long. This town is now a stinking, sinking ship.

Mr MM, you will be deployed elsewhere and the remains of our beloved town will be long forgotten by you. Probably to ‘F-up’ another municipality! So you’d rather leave the job to people who have the interest of this town at heart!

Fed-Up Ratepayer

A copy of this letter has been sent to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality for a response.
