The Ratepayers Association, your organisation may be the last bet to save Estcourt

Editor –
The community, in particular, the Ratepayers Association, awaits an appointment with the Administrator to chart the way forward.

Postponement of a scheduled meeting because of a death and even a mourning period is long over.  Mr Administrator, come out of your office to obtain first-hand information about the needs of the community.

Give us a report-back of your findings and remedial measures undertaken or to be taken.  To the Ratepayers Association, your organisation may be the last bet to save Estcourt. You need to:

1. ‘Push’ for a meeting with the Administrator;

2. Escalate the situation to Department Of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) or the Public Protector;

3. Convene a meeting with all ratepayers to plan the road ahead, including withholding of payments.

News flash: Estcourt is one of six municipalities threatened by Eskom to cut off the electricity supply.
