In response to the letter in last week’s newspaper, entitled ‘Can we enjoy our golden years in dignity?‘ (page 10).
‘DIGNITY’ is defined as ‘the state or quality of BEING WORTHY of honour or respect’!
SEE IT HERE: Can we enjoy our golden years with dignity?
So, if one shows dignity and respect to others, one will BE WORTHY of respect and honour in return!
When one no longer has the ability or ‘power’, for whatever reason, to live independently and admits oneself into an institution, one obviously is ready to relinquish oneself to the rules and care of others, and thereby relieve oneself of the responsibilities of independent living!
This would mean some compromises would need to be made OR one would find oneself eventually confronted by the ‘bears’ who wait patiently for those who constantly swim ‘upstream’!
