Ratepayer disappointed by poor service delivery

Why are we still driving on terrible roads? Why is refuse strewn on every street corner?

Where is the service delivery we are paying for? Recently, our hometown has fallen into a state of utter disrepair.

Everywhere we look around there are so many wrongs, even though ratepayers are faithfully footing the bill.

We religiously pay our rates, electricity and water accounts each month but can we say that the level of service delivery is equivalent to the amount we pay?

Why are we still driving on terrible roads? Why is refuse strewn on every street corner? Why is refuse being dumped illegally?

Do we even have a competent fire department with the dry fire season approaching, I am doubtful after last week’s front page article (Fire risk simmering at the landfill site), this makes me apprehensive because as Mr Warren Blaker explained if the correct measure aren’t in place, it may spell disaster.

Our town has definitely disintegrated into what we can call ‘junk status’, as residents we can honestly say that service delivery is at an all-time low.

I often wonder if our Mayor Mrs Jabulile Mbele ever feels embarrassed when she sees that her community is crying out for tangible service delivery.

Despite her promise to prioritise service delivery after being voted in, I think that this is the weakest and most irresponsive council we have ever had.

But the question that remains is how can we change this around? I would be glad to hear commendations from locals, via this newspaper, about what their views are concerning a turn-around strategy in our town.

How much longer must we wait for service delivery that we pay for? Will we have to pay the salaries of incompetent staff for many more months?

What are they delivering? What are they giving us, the rate paying citizens? Are we getting what we pay for?

I wonder if anyone has considered boycotting the current council? I would be interested to hear your views.
