Nowadays no one living in this country can truly feel safe in their environment.
I am fortunate to live in Strathmore Park, a community where we all look out for another.
This past week one of the resident’s, Derek Nuss, spotted two men stealing a lawnmower and he alerted the community who reacted swiftly. Because of WhatsApp groups, the community are alerted to suspicious vehicles and/or persons sizing up properties. Owners of dogs who are spotted running in the roads are contacted.
Lost animals are taken in by caring citizens who try their best to find the owners.
Over Christmas and New Year, volunteers form community-watch groups who take it in turns to patrol the streets.
Thanks to all the people sharing this neighbourhood who truly go the extra mile in ensuring we all sleep better at night.
