LETTERS – COPE condemns fuel levy and toll fee increases

Our nation is severely stressed with unemployment, debts and other necessities, they cannot afford another fuel increase

Sir
The Congress of the People strongly condemns the planned fuel and e-toll increases.

The government can’t continue torturing the people of South Africa by making them pay these high prices for petrol, diesel and paraffin. Instead of finding other ways to relieve the people from this heavy burden of increasing fuel every month, the government is making it worse.

It is clear that this current government is not capable of running the affairs of this country. President Cyril Ramaphosa is talking about attracting new investors to grow the economy, but with the monthly fuel increases we are scaring off potential investors.

Our nation is severely stressed with unemployment, debts and other necessities, they cannot afford another fuel increase. The people that will be the hardest hit will be the poor that use paraffin and taxis. Obviously, taxi fares will increase.

The increase will impact on farmers with food prices going up; this will have a serious effect on our economy. COPE is calling upon the people of South Africa not to allow this corrupt government to kill them slowly.

People must raise their voices and show their dissatisfaction.
