LETTER – Steer Endumeni to a cleaner 2019

Endumeni Municipality must provide enough dustbins in strategic areas in the CBD

Sir

Littering and violations of laws and bylaws are the order of the day in Dundee. Violations of laws and bylaws range from littering, urinating in the open spaces, drinking alcohol in public areas etc. Dundee CBD is very dirty. It is illegal to drive a vehicle without number plates but some people do – even those considered to be high profile.

Some people also drink alcohol at the taxi rank in front of the SAPS policemen.
Endumeni Municipality must provide enough dustbins in strategic areas in the CBD. The municipality must also run cleaning campaigns to encourage people to put litter into the dustbins.

The municipality should also provide cleaners to clean the town during the day.
Endumeni Municipality Chief of Police and SAPS Dundee Station commander must sit together to formulate a strategy to deal with public drinking and other road infringements and to increase the number of law enforcement agencies in town. People breaking the laws and bylaws should be arrested.
