Editor – Re: uThukela Municipality Call Centre. 0860-104-257 is the call centre telephone number in case of emergencies, ie burst water pipes or overflowing manholes.
On Friday, May 11, I personally phoned this number to report a burst pipe.
To my horror, I heard a voicemail stating that this number was no more in operation or had been discontinued.
So my question to you, Mr Manager of uThukela Municipality: Who do we, as rate-paying citizens of Ladysmith, report a burst water pipe to?
Why are you giving us a number that works during office hours only? What happens if there are burst pipes over the weekend; then what?
Must we now wait for Monday to report the burst water pipe before it is repaired by your lazy staff?
Have alternate numbers that are operational 24/7, not only when you are at the office.
Employ more staff to operate these phones. This is totally unacceptable. Mr uThukela Municipality Manager, you have proven not only to all the citizens of Ladysmith but also to yourself that you are incompetent.
uThukela Municipality, as a service provider, you have failed us hopelessly!
