Harding Street Night Market disappoints

Who on earth wants to set up food stalls, or any stall, in an unhygienic pig sty?

Estcourt was looking forward to this Night Market. Coming out for a stroll in Harding Street and making our way through all the stalls, we thought would have been all worth it.

Well, our municipality didn’t do anything to brighten up the market. The filth strewn EVERYWHERE was unbearable, the least they could have done, was have a team out cleaning our streets, gutters and pavements. Who on earth wants to set up food stalls, or any stall, in an unhygienic pig sty?

To say the least, it was very disappointing. The street wasn’t lined with stalls as anticipated. No Christmas decorations up to give it an atmosphere. What has happened to our municipal management? Do they not care to cheer this town up? A family from Ladysmith came to this market and they were very disappointed.

Just as well you didn’t advertise in their newspaper, it would have been very embarrassing for you, that is if you can feel embarrassed.
Where was our Mayor to walk in Harding Street? Time she comes out and mingles with her Estcourt people.

Walk our filthy streets and breathe in our filthy smells of urine, rotting foods, etc. People were sitting in gutters, in Albert Street and elsewhere, merrily drinking alcohol with their vehicles parked. These were visitors from Pietermaritzburg and other towns. Coming to a Night Market that had nothing to offer so the next best activity is to drink. WOW, fantastic night out under the stars.

If you are considering a market next year, please plan in advance. And please put an effort into putting more cheer into the festivities.
