CRL to investigate ‘religious attacks’

Our Constitution is clear and points out that no one should be treated in this way

The Cultural Religious and Linguistic Commission (CRL) is making its presence felt in Estcourt. Mr Trollip, the Commissioner of the CRL resides in Colita and has been confronted with matters concerning religious attacks.

This is not the first time that religious bodies were locked out of their own community centre and the municipality that is the caretaker, failed to open up the building for them. This time it was said that because of the holiday, no one would be in a position to open for the two churches to carry out their services.

This was for both Christmas Day, which was a Sunday and New Year’s Day, which also fell on a Sunday. This matter has directly reached my attention and I will now consult with those in charge, failing which, we will have to take it to court.

Our Constitution is clear and points out that no one should be treated in this way. I don’t think there is a good enough excuse to justify this. If there is a need, I will appoint CRL Legal to attend.

Mr R Trollip
CRL Commissioner
