Sir
Ken Gillings was a genius at bringing history alive.
He was my guide for all my expeditions following in the footsteps of my grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill, in South Africa. Ken introduced me to the descendants of the people who were involved in my grandfather’s thrilling adventures and brought the battles and the history to life for me and my family on research trips, tours and also when he became the star of my documentary, Chasing Churchill.
Without Ken, my South African adventures would have been much less enjoyable, much less colourful and much less successful.
I will always be grateful for his kindness and generosity in sharing his immense knowledge and his valuable time in so many ways and in so many places.
But most of all for his friendship to me and my family.
