It’s tax season time

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) deadline for individual for e-filing and branch submissions is November 25, 2016. SARS needs to reconcile your income with any tax deductible exemptions, which could result in a refund for you. The year of assessment is from the March 1, 2015 to February 29, 2016.

Supporting documents required include IRP5/IT3(a) certificate(s) from your employer or pension fund, IT3(b) certificates for investment returns, financial statements, if applicable e.g. business income, medical aid contribution certificates and receipts, retirement annuity fund certificates, certificates you received for local interest income earned, your logbook and other documents in support of business travel expenses, completed confirmation of diagnosis of disability form (ITR-DD) if applicable and any other relevant income and deduction information.

Also include your bank account details. Remember to be as honest and accurate as possible and submit your return in time to avoid penalties!
