Donald Trump has won the US election and is set to be the 45th American president.
We asked Newcastillians what were their views on the outcome of the US election and if they believed it would affect them.

Colleen Miller: “I am disappointed at the outcome of this election. It definitely will have a negative turn out. Donald Trump comes across as bombastic with autocratic traits.”Lethukuthula Dlamini said: “It would affect the South African economy negatively.”Sarie Mostert: “I would have liked Hilary Clinton to win. It would have been better, I believe she has more to offer America.”Frans Mostert: “I preferred Hilary Clinton to have won. The result of this election will affect South Africans as well.”Wessel Botha: “This could bring down the economy of the world. Trump is not good with his words and he cannot control his emotions. He can easily start a civil war.”Andri Vaneeden: “I think both candidates are equally corrupt; I would have voted for Trump.”Leandre Marais: “This would have a global effect on the economy.”Eddie Wentzel: “I do not approve of Donald Trump as a president, rather Hilary Clinton.”Magtha Nel: “From what the media has fed us, we don’t really know the actual situation in America. To choose one candidate would be the lesser of two evils.”Johan Nel: “I believe Hilary Clinton is diabolical in her planning. Let’s see what Donald Trump can do.”
