When life was simple

I am so proud to have been born in an era when life was simple

Sir

I am so proud to have been born in an era when life was simple. It was the 50-60’s. There was no TV and the highlight of our week was listening to the Top 20 on LM Radio. Our pop stars were talented musicians whose music inspires us to this day. Each had their own distinctive sound, dressed exclusively and wrote music for thinkers.

Our clothes were bought from the few outlets in town but more than often sewed by our mothers, grandmothers or ourselves. We look pride in our unique look and those who wore ‘brands’ were frowned upon as unimaginative.

We had none of the modern trappings of today’s youth – cell phones, laptops, iPods, etc. We read, played sport, rode our bicycles and earned our own pocket money.

We never suffered from the stresses of having ‘the right look’ or the right accessories’. We were proud of our individuality and abhorred being tagged as one of the masses. We were free spirits. Would I like to turn the clock back and be young again? Not for one second!
