Editor – The killing of the snake in the video on your online site was truly disgusting to see. I was so shocked to see it; I really did not expect the guy to shoot the snake.
I then started reading all the comments beneath the article and I thought to myself… What would I do if I lived in an area like that and a snake had just removed food literally from my family’s plate?
It’s easy to think you are civilised and imagine what you would do. But then the community started talking about children living, playing and walking past the area every day. The community did the right thing by calling the police, but they did not come.
So what would I do? I really do not have an answer. I would hope I would let it live, but part of me knows if my children were in any danger, I would not hesitate to protect them.
Why I am writing this is not to condemn the Gazette, but to thank them for showing me and my family parts of South Africa we never see, although we have lived here our whole lives.
