Madam – It is often said that to be able to judge a man’s true character, one should look at the way he treats animals.

Over the past couple of weeks, social media has pointed out that there have been numerous dogs poisoned in Newcastle. As an animal loving community, hearing about this is absolutely heartbreaking!

I have one dog, and I cannot imagine the heartache of losing her. All an animal wants is to be fed and loved. They ask for nothing in return for their unconditional love and loyalty. It makes me sick to think that some people can so callously harm a pet.

This shows that there are greater factors at play in our society. I’m not even sure these deplorable acts could be put down to a ‘lack of education’ anymore – that’s just a poor excuse for being a complete and utter waste of humanity.

While unemployment slowly grows, so too does the hate among humans, and this spreads to the most innocent among us – our pets.

What is the reason to kill an animal? Poisoning a dog to gain access to a home and steal is putting us back in the past, where we were nothing short of barbaric. It astounds me that in this day and age, sociopaths like these still walk around.

To the person/people doing this – remember that karma comes back around. One day, you will suffer for your cowardly deeds.
