Racial hatred must be crushed

Outside of this box, we are all facing the horrible monster of crime.

Madam – I am appalled that we are 20 years into democracy in South Africa, and still we fail to embrace each other as the rainbow nation that we are.

Thank God we never went through a civil war during the transition period. However, it seems like the demons of racism are threatening to poison the moral fabric of our society. It seems like the poisonous acid of hatred and bitterness is simmering in the very souls of its victims from every nation of our beautiful land!

It seems like the pin in the hand grenade of racial hatred has been pulled, and a mighty explosion is about to follow!

My prayer is that this evil monster of racial hatred be crushed, cast out and condemned before it kills us! Martin Luther junior so aptly put it: “…if we don’t learn to live together as brothers, then we will perish together as fools…” amazingly, all this hullabaloo about colour is based on something that is barely 1mm in thickness – the skin of a person!

Whereas under our different skin colors, we are entirely the same, if we are willing to live and function outside of the box of racism!

I say we should stop just thinking out of this box of racial hatred, but we should break the box completely! Because outside of this unnecessary evil we have the scourge of drugs and alcohol that is stealing our future generations, and it does not respect race, creed or colour! Outside of this box we all face the challenge of the ever-rising cost of living, which again does not care or respect our racial ethos and views.

Outside of this box, we are all facing the horrible monster of crime – crime against our fellow women, children and men, and again, it has no respect for race or colour!

We, as the South African nation, should become a united people, and stop stereotyping each other! Some of us need to wake up to the fact that the God who loves variety, has made us in His image – colour and all!

I believe we are like flowers planted in the garden of this world, although of different kinds and colour, we are placed here to give out our beauty and fragrance but for a short season, then we close our petals and swiftly depart yonder. Finally, we are no better or worse than our fellow man, for in all races we have the good, the bad and the not so ugly! We can never change it, so let’s learn to live with it!
