uThukela responsible for the stench of municipal failure

If the municipality would just come and see the issues we face, and also consider us as living beings, they would see the disgusting conditions we are living under

Editor – I am a resident of Limit Hill who wishes to raise a concern about uThukela District Municipality and its lack of enthusiasm when it comes to service delivery in our area.  We have been facing a sewage problem for more than a week.

Limit Hill, in my opinion, is a small area that does not really need much when it comes to service delivery. The majority of our problems are issues that can be dealt with within a day, but still the municipality fails to recognise us. The issue pertaining to the sewage leak goes to show how much our municipal officials fail to do their job and also in providing service delivery.

The seeping sewage is in a high-risk area because we fear for the children who play there; we fear they will catch deadly illnesses, as there is human waste and all sorts of disgusting things.

If the municipality would just come and see the issues we face, and also consider us as living beings, they would see the disgusting conditions we are living under. The purpose of this letter is to express our anger and disappointment towards the municipality of uThukela for not being reliable when it comes to service delivery.

I also hope that, via this letter, the municipality will hear our cry and do something about the sewage, because this is getting out of hand. It really is frustrating and disgusting to witness such a mess in our streets!

We, as the residents of Limit Hill, don’t deserve to live like this; nobody does. We really do not know what to do anymore, so we ask that the municipality does something, and QUICK!
