Book worms unite

I recently went to the library and was shocked to see how little children and teenagers were browsing the aisles.

Madam -I recently went to the library and was shocked to see how little children and teenagers were browsing the aisles.

When I was a child, I yearned for the holidays, so I could dedicate all my free time to the library, perusing for books that would take me on adventurous journeys. Yet, it seems the modern teenager views the library in the same light as a hippy would avoid responsibility.

Youngsters are to engulfed in reality shows where the Kardashians air their dirty laundry, mindless music videos and computer games.

Reading is nothing more than a punishment to them, and it is because of this that so few teens can actually spell or construct words. They rely on ‘text’ spelling and opinions are made up on what singers such as Justin Bieber say.

Come on kids, pick up a book and read. Learn to think and see that there is more to the world than mind-numbing entertainment.

Dr Who once said: “You want weapons? We’re in a library! Book! The best weapons in the world!”

So, pick up a book and arm yourself with knowledge.
