#FreshTake – Simple gestures of kindness

Make someone's day, together let's highlight kindness and make our town a better place

This is a challenge to you, my #Freshtakers and me. See how many you can tick off.

Make someone’s day, together let’s highlight kindness and make our town a better place.

1. Tweet, Facebook, BBM, WhatsApp or Instagram a genuine compliment to any three people now.
2. Visit the sick in hospital, the elderly in the old age home who no longer get visitors or orphans and vulnerable children.
3. While you’re out and about in town, compliment a parent on how well-behaved their child is.
4. Don’t write that angry internet comment you’re thinking of.
5. When everyone around you is gossiping about someone, be the one to butt in with something nice.
6. Cook a meal or do a load of washing for someone who just had a baby or is going through a difficult time.
7. Put your phone away.
8. Be friends with the person who just moved to town.
9. Offer a homeless person a meal or a blanket.
10. Each time you get a new piece of clothing, donate an old one. #challenge
11. Don’t interrupt when someone else is speaking. (Surprisingly few people master this.)
12. Email, call, SMS or write an old teacher who made a difference in your life.
13. Compliment someone to their boss.
14. Leave a nice server/waiter/petrol attendant a tip you can afford.
15. Smile
16. Forgive someone, and never bring up the issue again.
17. Talk to that shy person.
18. Cut someone some slack.
19. Become a big brother or big sister or someone who you know can do with the love and care.
20. Let the person behind you at the shop checkout with one or two items go ahead of you.
To be continued.
