God bless America

In America a road fatality occurs roughly every 100 million km travelled, while in our country it only takes 8 million km travelled before someone is killed. This means that being on the road in America is 13 times safer than it is in South Africa.

Madam – God bless America.

In America (USA) about a thousand people are charged with ‘texting’ related incidents every year (that is out of 350 million).

This is unbelievably little when compared to South Africa where talking on the phone while driving is almost a standard practice.

In America a road fatality occurs roughly every 100 million km travelled, while in our country it only takes 8 million km travelled before someone is killed. This means that being on the road in America is 13 times safer than it is in South Africa.

A most regrettable reality.

Also in America, there are apparently more suicides than traffic deaths.

Should we perhaps categorise some accidents as a suicide in order to make our statistics look better!?

This is not as far-fetched as it may seem at first because some people’s behaviour/driving style/walking manners may well be called suicidal.
