#Fresh Take – Unplug

Has anyone noticed that, sadly our society has grown estranged from each other

Access to an international community is only a click of a button away – social media. Social media is a collection of online communications channels dedicated to community-based input, interaction and content-sharing.

Today, the social media giant is rolling out new features making it more attractive. When social media started making headway as a mainstream trend, the advantages and disadvantages became visible for everyone to see.

You can connect online with people you know, as well people you don’t know, often at no cost.
Share personal opinions with the world through networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and open lengthy discussions on topics you and your friends find interesting.

In this day and age, many find it important to build up a network of friends, colleagues, and people you love or following pages of people who love what you love.

Even though none of us sees the people they care about as often as we would like, social media gives people around the world a powerful tool to stay in touch at any time.

In recent years, it has become abundantly clear that social media never had noble intentions. But has anyone noticed that, sadly our society has grown estranged from each other, especially amongst the youth.

Since its emergence, users now regarded social media as a public space to share their feelings and opinions and share their daily life’s activities.

Before any electronic gadgets there were real friends and you went outside and found them.

You made up games with sticks and tennis balls or rode bikes; no one can expect that now but does everyone have to become so distant.

Social media can’t solely be blamed for that even though it does have a lot of the weight placed on its shoulders.

On that note, I challenge myself and everyone else to go on a social media fast for as long as you can.

Enjoy some much needed family time with limited interruptions, or even with friends with no distractions, and feeling the need to snap and post everything.
