The weekend of November 2 will be a memorable one for the people of Estcourt and surrounding areas. We had no electricity in Wembezi.
Normally we phone Alpha Control for help to contact the concerned people for our rescue. That weekend there was no answer at all and we heard that it was closed.
Now it is sad because our municipality is always having braais and celebrating clean audits.
It is surprising because we are nearing the festive season. Please think about the lives of people who need emergency services. The African National Congress must stop playing with our people’s lives.
People pay rates. The control centre is the only source of communication. If you care for your community, make sure that Alpha Control is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please stop enriching yourselves, think about people.

Wembezi experienced load shedding on November 2. The Customer Care Centre is running effectively and is in the process of being upgraded.
